Hello it's me, the author of beautysundae who has left her blog to rot and die once again. Reason being I just have not found any interesting or exciting products that was worth posting! BUT here I present a really fun product! Fudge Paintbox is a hair dye range full of the brightest and vibrant colors from red to blue, green to pink; think Manic Panic just way easier to find in Australia. These hair dyes are perfect for those who just want to experiment and try something different. Chucking an unusual color in my hair was a New Year's resolution of mine so this was brewing for sometime. So how are the results?

I bought my dye at Priceline for $19. It is pretty pricey it's 75mL just like your average tube of skincare. I could buy two boxes of regular hair dye that would cover my whole head and this wouldn't even do half for double the price. But what the hey I was only looking to do streaks anyways and I really wanted to color my hair. It's in a tube packaging, so you squeeze how much you want and apply it. No developers and you can re-use what you have left.
I bought the color Blueberry Hill a neutral purple that doesn't lean too pink or blue. It's super pretty and it's a color I would recommend if you want to start off your hair adventure as it's easy to pull off.
My hair right now is dyed a warm medium golden brown (will do a blog post later on the color), naturally it's black since I'm Asian. So I have super pigmented thick hair that's very long. I used about half the tube for 10 or so streaks across my head.
I did do a test run on one piece to see what time worked best and what technique. Here's a summary of directions I used. You will need to wet your hair first not dripping wet just damp. You need gloves or you will look like Barney. Cover your area in newspapers or old towels. Use a LOT of dye make sure it's completely saturated. It will help if you use thin sections. I used my fingers no brush. Chuck it into foil so it helps it develop and doesn't touch the rest of your hair or wear a plastic bag if you're doing your whole head. Wash your hair WELL or your towels will turn purple. If you do get some dye on an area wipe it off quickly mine came off straightaway with soap and water.
My tips are to leave it on your hair FOR A LONG TIME. It says 15-30 minutes but if you have medium/dark hair that you are not bleaching leave it for at least 45 minutes to an hour.
The result? PURPLE. Although on my warm hair the purple also became more warm (pink) which I ended up liking. I wasn't expecting much honestly but this was better than expected on my unbleached thick hair. In dark lighting it's nothing much, in normal lights there's a lovely tint but it certain lights it's purple goodness. It's a subtle touch. I like it. On my hair the streaks didn't come out as defined because I didn't bleach it, it looked like a really pretty gradient and the purple meshed with my hair. I am super happy I loved the color it turned out as it worked well with my original hair color.

How long did it last? By the 7th wash it's pretty much all gone. By the 4th or 5th day it's faded. I was expecting it to fade pretty quickly so I'm not surprised since my hair isn't bleached. The purple faded nicely though, it stayed purple unlike some blues that may turn green for example. Dying your hair in bright colors is high maintenance and a commitment and if you want this hair be prepared to dye it every one to two weeks.
In the end I could see this being super bright on bleached hair but on unbleached hair it's definitely not as pigmented. I for one really like the effect but be aware it's very subtle you will only see it in certain lights. I think it's worth a try though and easy to use. For unbleached medium hair this will a lovely introduction to bright hair coloring as the results are softer. I will definitely be trying out other colors and will continue to have this hair for as long as I can be bothered!
