Breakfast Time: Cruskit Recipes

Here's a break from makeup, today's post is going to be about food. Oh thy glorious food! Are you stuck on what to make for breakfast? This post will give you some ideas on what to make! Today's based on the almighty Cruskit and the endless toppings you can choose that will make them different every time. Here are some of my favorites.

Tomato and egg Cruskits for breakfast. Cold vs. warm ^^

Don't know what Cruskits are? They're just an elongated cracker/crispbread. They are a lot healthier than bread and are a lot lighter on the stomach meaning they can be used as a healthier option. You can buy them in many varieties but I have the original. What I love about them is there are so many simple ways to eat this. I prefer toppings but you can use them as dips as well.

Today for breakfast I had two Cruskits from Arnott's. A cold one and a warm one.

~
Fresh tomato Cruskit.

- Two thin slices of tomato.
- Light cream cheese. I have the Philly one.
- Salt and pepper.

1. Spread the cheese on the Cruskit. Thin or thick, your choice.
2. Put the tomatoes on top.
3. Pinch of salt and freshly cracked pepper.

Soooo easy. It tasted so good. It's a favorite.

Egg Cruskit.

- One boiled egg.
-  Any melt-able slice of cheese.
- Freshly cracked pepper.

1. Boil your egg, mine was about medium as I didn't want it to run all over the Cruskit. When the water is boiling, cook your egg for about 5-7 minutes.
2. While it's boiling put the slice of cheese along the Cruskit. Place it under the grill/oven and wait for the cheese to melt.
3. Slice the egg and lay them on the Cruskit. Peel the shell off of course (lol).
4. Pinch of pepper on top. I decided to lay off the salt as the cheese and yolk would have been enough. But it's definitely optional.

Other things you can use as a topping. And can be interchangeable with eachother.

Base: Cream cheese, sliced cheese, cottage cheese, chutney, jam, peanut butter, butter, vegemite, honey, avocados.

Topping: Tomatoes, eggs, spinach, rocket, cucumber, herbs, olives, smoked salmon, canned tuna, ham, turkey, bananas, strawberries.

Sauces/seasonings: Tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, sweet chilli sauce, mayonnaise, ranch, salt, pepper, sugar, olive oil, lemon/lime juice.

My favorite combos along with the tomato and egg one.
- Smoked salmon/tuna, cream cheese, spinach/rocket, salt and pepper.
- Avocado, poached/boiled egg, salt and pepper.
- Banana and peanut butter.

There are so many varieties of toppings you can use. Most of the time they can be very healthy and fresh. I encourage you to make some Cruskits! Either as a snack or as a full fledged meal. Yum yum yum they are my addiction right now. So easy and quick to make.

Thanks for reading! Do you have any favorite combos? :D
