Review: Rimmel Scandal Eyes Lycra Flex Mascara (Green Tube)

Yay for more drugstore reviews! And yes it's another Rimmel product, they are my favorite drugstore brand so I tend to be swayed to their counter. This time I picked up a mascara~

I got my mascara from Target on sale for $10. The Scandal Eyes line were all $10 but I decided to go for the green one. The others looked really 'clubby' and dramatic which aren't usually my thang. Haha.

Anyways so the mascara says it has 'lycra technology' (fancy fancy). And aims to make your lashes voluminous, soft, flexible and clump-free. Most mascaras work with my lashes and so I don't usually have a problem with any. But this one is probably my least favorite.

The Rimmel one looks like a pine tree
First off, the brush is HUGE. In comparison to my trusty Covergirl Lashblast (Volume one) it's a lot bigger. I thought my Covergirl one was already quite large but this takes the cake. The bristles are extra long which explains the size. I don't like it. It's so chunky and I find it very hard to maneuver since it's pretty much bigger than my eye haha. Not to mention the bristles are made of more individual bristles which makes defining the lashes very messy. What makes it worse is it comes out with so much product. And you can guess that mascara ends up all over my eyelid. I would not even try this on my bottom lashes as it would probably go everywhere.

The packaging is cool, a lil' bulky. The green is cool and easily distinguishable. But since so much mascara comes out I always have to wipe a bit of it off inside the bottle. And it makes the opening of the tube really messy and dry and eck.

The formula is wet. Very gloopy and thick. It makes it good for lengthening but not good for volume, definition and holding a curl. It claims to create volume and it does to a certain extent. But the formula is so thick it's eventually decreases the perkiness of your lashes. As I said the lengthening was great. The definition is ok. Again since it is a wet formula it's hard to layer and instead slips and slides. Thus since it's wet the lashes begin to stick together. But back to what it does well, it is definitely clump-free. It gives you nice natural thick lashes as well. Not amazingly thick but decent for everyday. This was non-waterproof and it transferred throughout the day. And this is the only mascara I have which has done this.

No mascara, curled
First coat
Second coat

Quick summary

Lengthening:8/10
Volume: 6/10
Definition: 5/10
Thickening: 6/10

I would not repurchase. My lashes cooperate well with any mascara and are quite long-ish anyways so I'll definitely finish the bottle since I don't like to waste my makeup. But it's nothing amazing.

Thanks for reading!! xx
