Review: Anna Sui Super-Black Full Mascara #001

Hey guys, how are you all? It's a beautiful cloudy Saturday morning over here. Today's post is about the Anna Sui Mascara and how it fares up.

I was recently in hunt for a new mascara, I was running out of both my Great Lash and Falsies by Maybelline. I wanted to try something new and cheap. I had bought the Anna Sui one on a whim for $16AU. In Australia, that's pretty inexpensive for a mascara. It's packaged in a glossy plastic black bottle, the lid being in a shape of a rose. It's a cute touch as Anna Sui is known for her flowery sweet products. Although it's a high end product, I'm guessing this was so out-dated that it was brought down to only that much in terms of price. Yet the results were highly surprising and most of all amazing.

The formula itself is very watery. As in, it's quite wet. The color I bought was #001, and the black is super intense. The brush is quite large and very full. This allows for quite a lot of product distribution along the lashes.

I personally love the wet formula. Because I find that 'drier' mascaras tend to be harder to build up and get clumpy really easily. And I hate the spidery lash effect. It does take quite a substantial time to dry though so if you have hooded eyes like myself be sure not to look up too far or it'll get over your lids. Due to the formula, it doesn't do a good job in thickening the lashes as the formula doesn't stick well when doing multiple coats. What it does immensely well is defining and lengthening the lashes. Which is what I prefer in my mascaras. The brush goes through the root and top of the lashes very well. I also quite like how it comes off easily with my cleanser, I can never get the Falsies off and the next day my lashes are all dry and clumpy. And when I put more on, it gets in the way and leaves me with these stubby short spider lashes. It's a great everyday mascara as it achieves the same look every day. Not to mention it doesn't smudge like the Maybelline ones.

No mascara, I have naturally curled up lashes so I didn't use an eye curler.

One coat of the Anna Sui mascara.

Second coat. Slight difference. A little darker and more defined.

Products on my eyes: Dark brown Maybelline Gel Liner, Etude House Face Designing Brighterner and Highlighting on my under eyes, Too Faced Natural Eye Palette in Velvet Revolver and Sexpresso and Australis Brow and Lash Extender for my brows.

I have to say I enjoy wearing one coat more than the two coats. It starts to stick together (because it doesn't dry as quick) and also weighs my lashes down and makes them more vulnerable to slowly losing their curl through out the day.

But I love the mascara, it makes my lashes super long. It's a great deal, I got mine off Yesstyle. But hopefully other stores will have the same sale on this product.

Overall it's a super great every day mascara. It's formula works really well for my lashes so I totally recommend this product for everyone especially Asians who have straight lashes. It's really good for lengthening and defining. Hope you guys give it a try out.

Thanks for reading :)
